One of the Seven Wonders

The Baha’i House of Worship of the North American continent located in small town of Wilmette, Illinois just outside of Chicago was recently voted one of the Seven Wonders of Illinois! This is the result of a series of elimination rounds with several other places in the state by voting that was done over the last few weeks through the Enjoy Illinois website. The organization has prepared a very nice video accompanied by an introduction.

From the US Baha’i site:

One of only seven Baha’i temples in the world at present, this unique structure stands for unity and invites prayer to God.

The groundbreaking for the House of Worship occurred on May 1, 1912, in a ceremony blessed with the presence and participation of ‘Abdu’l-Baha, son of the Founder of the Baha’i Faith.

Like all Baha’i Houses of Worship, the Temple in Wilmette has nine sides and a dome. It is surrounded by exquisite gardens and fountains.

  • Kevin’s Blog Revealed

So I did a search for the quoted string “kevin’s blog” and found that my blog came up at the 33rd entry… after quite a few other Kevin’s Blogs…. That was when I discovered that we (or us?) Kevins aren’t very creative when it comes to naming our blogs. :)

Thus, today, the no-longer-new-but-hopefully-still-fresh Kevin’s Blog becomes Revelations, something new is revealed everyday. I’m not convinced about the tagline so any suggestions are welcome. :S

    Titled: The Reason

This is a poem I just wrote.
It’s basically my heart, my mind and my soul,
    trying to figure out,
trying to figure out how it all works.

If we are all just players in a soccer game,
do we get guided by the crowd?
Do we do what they say?
Or do we set our minds on the goal?
    The reason for our creation.

If we are all just leaves of one tree,
do we let ourselves get guided by the wind?
Or do we hold strongly to our tree branch?
    The reason for our being.

If we are all shells in one ocean,
do we let ourselves get guided by the waves?
Or do we make our way to the shore
    and reach out?
    The reason for our existence.

But I just wrote this poem,
and it’s basically me, my heart, my mind and my soul,
    trying to figure out,
    trying to figure it…
    out…

Be honest, do I have a future in poetry writing/saying? :)
